Ana in Town
The music festival “Ana in Town” featuring renowned Croatian cellist Ana Rucner, was held for the third time on June 21-23, in spectacular venues throughout Dubrovnik. This artist, known for her unique musical style, created this festival as a gift to Dubrovnik, the city which has always filled her with new inspiration.
The festival began on June 21 with the “Welcome Summer” concert, held on the first day of summer, which is also World Music Day. The concert began at 5:00 in the morning, in the amphitheater on top of Mount Srd, with cellist Ana Rucner accompanied by pianist Andrijan Sesar. This concert, in celebration of the approach of summer, was a must for all who love Dubrovnik’s most unique events. The dawn of a new day, in this unforgettable natural setting, accompanied by the sounds of cello and piano, mingled with the songs of birds, made this concert an extraordinary experience that no visitor would forget.
The following evening, this renowned cellist presented a concert entitled “My Five Minutes” in the magnificent atrium of the historic Rector’s Palace in Old Town Dubrovnik. This special concert included poetry, dance, drama and music presented by the children of “Dom Maslina,” Dubrovnik’s orphanage. These talented young performers accompanied Ms. Rucner in this charity concert. Proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the children of the orphanage.
A spectacular program was presented on the final evening of the festival, as cellist Ana Rucner performed with guests from the Lindo folklore ensemble and Dubrovnik’s renowned men’s vocal ensemble Klapa Subrenum. This unique concert showed why Ana Rucner is celebrated for her creativity in combining modern music with traditions from Croatia’s rich cultural heritage.
This unique music festival, “Ana in Town” with cellist Ana Rucner and her guests, delighted audiences with a program of both classical and ‘crossover’ music combined with traditional sounds of the Dubrovnik area.
