DUBROVNIK INTERNATIONAL WINE & JAZZ FESTIVAL 2015
Each September, Dubrovnik becomes a favourite destination for everyone who loves jazz music, art, and the palate-pleasing wines of the Dubrovnik region. The 2015 Dubrovnik International Jazz and Wine Festival, held September 26-29, combines all these pleasures, at the Rector’s Palace, a temple of culture in Dubrovnik’s historic Old Town.
This year’s festival is inspired by Broadway melodies, and the concert programmes include jazz classics and timeless hits from the Broadway stage, interpreted by musical geniuses from Europe, Canada, the United States, and Croatia, accompanied by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra under the baton of world-famous jazz pianist and director Michael Vaughn Kissinger. The beautiful atrium of the Rector’s Palace will also host the Nato Six Jazz ensemble, renowned Broadway singer Douglas Webster, as well as pianist and conductor Maria Manzo.
This unique festival, which, attracts numerous jazz enthusiasts every year, will be accompanied by tastings of Croatia’s best wines, such as Plavac mali, Zinfandel and Posip. Outstanding wines and timeless jazz are the perfect combination. In addition, the festival includes an exhibit of paintings by the well-known Dubrovnik artist Jagoda Lasić, whose brush brings the delightful customs and beauty of Dubrovnik to life on canvas.
