Protocols of safety and cleanliness

To ensure a safe working environment for its employees and a pleasant and secure stay for all resort guests, Sun Gardens Dubrovnik has taken several precautionary measures to prevent the outburst and spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). 

On an ongoing basis, the resort provides the highest quality of maintenance including additional procedures for cleaning and disinfection in line with global health care standards. The resort also appeals to the observance of sanitary and hygienic instructions towards employees and guests.

General Measures

Sun Garden Dubrovnik continuously follows the official data and the recommendations by the Croatian Public Health Institute, the Civil Protection Headquarters of the Republic of Croatia and other relevant healthcare authorities involved in combating the COVID-19 outbreak.  

  • Re-arranged furniture to provide adequate space for social distancing throughout the resort (1,5 meters)
  • Signage and distance markers in place in key areas to alert guests of protocols and precautionary guidelines on social distance
  • Hand sanitiser stations located in all public areas at high-contact points for visitors and the back-of-house areas
  • Enhanced sanitation practices in all resort key areas
  • Increased cleaning and disinfection frequency of public areas (including lobbies, elevators, restaurants and bars, restrooms, spa, swimming pool areas, etc.)
  • Frequent disinfection of the elevator control panel and staircase handrails
  • Limited occupancy of elevators (except when it is a family/friends group)
  • Heightened cleaning and sanitation protocols for public restrooms
  • Detailed hand washing instructions placed in all public restrooms
  • COVID-19 awareness, education, and training of all employees
  • Monitoring of the employees’ body temperature by contactless thermometer every day upon their arrival to the hotel
  • Monitoring of the guests’ body temperature by contactless thermometer upon their check-in to the hotel
  • All employees in contact with guests or working in indoor public areas are required to wear protective masks and gloves

Guest Guidelines

To assist us in keeping you and our staff safe, please follow the official guidelines and recommendations.

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water OR use an alcohol-based disinfectant
  • Cover your mouth and nose with your forearm or tissue paper while coughing and sneezing that you later discard into the trashcan and wash your hands
  • Avoid touching your face, mouth, nose and eyes
  • Avoid close contact with sick people who exhibit symptoms of fever, cough and/or shortness of breath
  • Avoid handshaking and close conversations - maintain social distancing at all times during your stay
  • Wear face masks in all public indoor areas, as well as outdoors where close contact cannot be avoided (1,5-meter social distance)
  • Face masks (fabric or single-use medical) must be worn properly so that it covers the mouth and nose, and disposed properly to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

Enhanced cleaning and sanitation procedures in all accommodation units focusing on high-touch points in guest rooms and residences.

  1. MINIBAR & COFFEE / TEA AREA – Cleaned and disinfected the entire area, including the minibar
    KITCHEN [Residences] – Cleaned and disinfected all surfaces and utensils, including refrigerator and microwave
  2. ALL CLOSET ACCESSORIES - Cleaned and disinfected the wardrobe
  3. HARD SURFACES - Cleaned and disinfected with the approved cleaner and disinfectant
  4. TELEVISION & ALL ELECTRONICS – Cleaned and disinfected with the approved cleaner and disinfectant
  5. BED FRAME & FURNITURE - Cleaned and disinfected for your arrival
  6. BEDDING & MATTRESS – All bed linen is changed as requested and laundered at the in-house Laundry facility providing full control with no third party involved
  7. CARPETING AND FLOORS – Swept and sanitized
  8. SOFT FURNISHINGS – Cleaned and disinfected for your arrival; some may be removed in line with official guidelines
  9. OUTDOOR FURNITURE – Cleaned and disinfected for your arrival
  10. AIR CIRCULATION - Regular disinfection of AC filters & all accommodation units are cleaned with the windows/doors opened to increase fresh air circulation

FOOD & BEVERAGE FACILITIES

Food and beverage services have been adjusted to the current safety recommendations implementing enhanced food safety and hygiene protocols.

  1. HAND SANITIZER - Hand sanitiser stations installed at the entrance of restaurants and bars
  2. SOCIAL DISTANCE - Seating area is allocated for social distancing protection
  3. OUTDOOR SEATING - Use of restaurant and bar terraces whenever possible
  4. AIR CIRCULATION/VENTILATION - Regular disinfection of AC; ventilation is carried out as often as possible
  5. KITCHEN AREAS - Daily deep disinfection of hotel kitchen areas
  6. HARD SURFACES - Cleaned and sanitised with the approved cleaner
  7. SOFT FURNISHINGS – Cleaned and disinfected for your arrival; some may be removed in line with official guidelines
  8. FLOORS – Swept and sanitized daily with the approved cleaner and disinfectant
  9. TABLE SET-UP - Completed in front of guests after seating
  10. SERVICE - Restaurants mainly provide a-la-carte service; where buffet service is available, there is a combination of partial self-service of prepared and covered dishes as well as service by chefs at the buffet stations

RESERVATIONS - Reservations are not mandatory, but strongly recommended CLUB LOUNGE - working hours may be modified for disinfection and cleaning

SPA CENTRE

  • Placement of furniture in the Spa centre area rearranged to encourage social distancing protocols
  • Increased frequency of area cleaning and disinfection (massage rooms, workout machines, swimming pool handrails, spa & sun lounges, etc.);
  • Increased fresh air circulation in all closed areas

  • Hand sanitiser stations installed at the entrance
  • Spa treatment reservations by phone/e-mail are strongly recommended
  • Time allocated between treatments to ensure deep disinfection and cleaning
  • Gym bookings are compulsory to ensure a limited / approved number of gym users at the same time
  • 30 minutes in between gym sessions designated to ensure deep disinfection and cleaning
  • In some treatments, the use of sanitary masks is compulsory for both guests and employees
  • Number of people using the pool at one time will be limited
  • Steam sauna will be unavailable
  • Pre-pool showering and feet sanitation are mandatory

  • Parents or babysitters bringing children to the Kids Club are not allowed to enter the facility
  • Upon arrival, children will be assisted to wash their hands

CONFERENCES & BANQUETING

  • Ensured designated space of 1,5 m social distancing measure are followed during meeting room set-up and duration of the meetings
  • Signage in place to remind guests on social distancing protocols and precautionary protocols
  • Hand sanitiser stations installed at the entrance

  • Detailed hand washing instructions placed in all public restrooms
  • Food & drinks are recommended to be packed individually for each guest; in case of “standard” coffee-break, the same measures and protocols are applied as for buffet-style restaurant
  • In between sessions, the meeting room is ventilated and chairs disinfected (if participants are changed)

TRANSFERS & EXCURSIONS

Our partner Korkyra Travel Agency is currently operating tours only in destinations where governments have deemed it safe to resume group activities. The guide will inform you of the latest government recommendations, and whether a mask is required, whether by the government or the vendors.

  • Limited group sizes to reflect local government recommendations for gatherings
  • Re-training all guides and drivers in health and safety and incident management
  • The use of masks and gloves by travel agency staff and drivers as long as it is officially recommended by the Croatian Institute of Public Health
  • Hand sanitiser provided on travel agency desk and in vehicles
  • Enhanced cleaning and sanitation of agency desk and vehicles
  • Ensuring any private transport is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between tours
  • The use of masks on tours and transfers is recommended; if you do not bring your own, one will be offered by the driver/guide.
  • Complimentary wipes and water offered on all tours and transfers
