What’s On in Dubrovnik This Summer: Festivals, Concerts, and Events 2025

Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic, is not only famous for its stunning architecture and rich history but also for its vibrant summer entertainment scene. From open-air concerts and theatre under the stars to local festivals, summer 2025 in Dubrovnik promises a calendar full of events you won’t want to miss. So what’s new this season?

Traditionally, we look forward to the iconic Dubrovnik Summer Festival, held annually from 10 July to 25 August, and the Midsummer Scene Theatre on Fort Lovrjenac, but there is so much to experience both within and outside the Old City walls.

76th Dubrovnik Summer Festival

The 76th edition of Dubrovnik Summer Festival will feature over 2,000 local and international artists with 70 drama, music, dance, art, and other performances across 15 locations in and around the Old City. The festival’s opening ceremony in front of St. Blaise’s Church on 10 July will be a spectacle in itself.

As covered in our Resort Magazine, Senka Bulić, actress and the new Director of the drama programme, is bringing an ambitious repertoire focused on strong female figures. This year’s productions include the tragedy Medea, co-produced with the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin and the Slovenian National Theatre, alongside The Fisherman's Quarrels, The Seagull, Equinox (last season’s most awarded play in Croatia), The Tempest on Lokrum, and Kafetarija.

The music programme is equally exciting, with 20 treats for music lovers. While it is hard to highlight just one event, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra performing Beethoven’s Ode to Joy with members of the Zadar Chamber Orchestra on the occasion of their 100th anniversary promises to be unforgettable. For the first time, the festival will also welcome The Vienna Berlin Music Club (Philharmonix), blending classical, jazz, pop, and swing.

Other notable artists include the JM Jazz World Orchestra, world-renowned soprano Sonya Yoncheva with pianist Malcolm Martineau, the multi-awarded young pianist Jan Niković, Khatia Buniatishvili, The Zagreb Soloists featuring Alexandra Conunova and composer Margareta Ferek Petrić. The festival’s music programme in the Rector's Palace will conclude with a donation concert entitled Youth for Youth, featuring the best young Croatian musicians, including tenor Filip Filipović, winner of the Jeunesses Musicales Croatia Ivo Vuljević Award, and violinist Matej Mijalić, winner of the 20th Ferdo Livadić International Competition of Young Musicians, accompanied by the Luka Sorkočević Art School chamber ensembles.

For dance enthusiasts, highlights include a performance by the Linđo Folklore Ensemble, celebrating the region’s heritage, and the romantic ballet Giselle performed by the Ballet of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb.

Art enthusiasts can explore exhibitions including Dimitrije Popović: Toutes Les Femmes at Sponza, Ivona Šimunović's solo exhibition Margaritas at the Church of St. Stephen in Pustijerna, Antonia Rusković Radonić: For You at Sponza, and The Women - On Stage and Behind the Scenes at the Ethnographic Museum.

Midsummer Scene Dubrovnik 2025

Another favourite event, the Midsummer Scene festival, returns to Fort Lovrjenac from June 22 to July 5 with an open-air English theatre programme. This year it will present The School for Scandal, a comedy by Richard Brinsley Sheridan directed by Fred Gray, offering a dazzling satire of society and reputation. Filip Kremus, Co-Founder and Creative Producer of Midsummer Scene, will also perform in the One-Fairy Show I, Peaseblossom by Tim Crouch, inviting audiences to see Shakespeare’s world through the eyes of the overlooked. In celebration of Dubrovnik’s literary and theatrical legacy, Midsummer Scene will also feature Držić Day, a tribute to Marin Držić, the father of Croatian drama and a prominent voice of the European Renaissance.

Banksy in Dubrovnik

From June to November, Dubrovnik’s Old City will host a Banksy exhibition, featuring more than 70 artworks, high-quality prints and reproductions from the globally popular yet mysterious British artist. The collection includes iconic works such as Girl with Balloon, Flower Thrower, Love is in the Air, and Devolved Parliament. The exhibition is available daily at Poljana Paska Miličevića 4, Dubrovnik Old Town, from 10 am to 10 pm.

Summer at the Top of Mount Srđ

For the first time, the top of Mount Srđ will offer a free evening entertainment programme featuring film nights on Sundays and Tuesdays, live music on Mondays and Wednesdays, DJ shows from Thursday to Saturday, and face painting for children on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Running until September 15, 2025, this programme takes place at the amphitheatre next to the upper Cable Car station, with free admission, while cable car tickets are not included. Guests can also enjoy table service with drinks from the on-site restaurant while taking in the most iconic views over Dubrovnik.

Park Orsula 2025

Park Orsula, another stunning summer stage on a cliff above the sea, will feature popular musicians from Croatia and the region in 2025, including Vojko V, LAKA, Braća Teofilović & Miroslav Tadić, Neno Belan & Fiumens, KRIES, Trio Mandili from Georgia, Urban, a flamenco show, Đurologija & Bombaj Štampa, Senidah, Amira Medunjanin, and Rundek i Ekipa, as well as Tonči Huljić & Madre Badessa.
