For centuries, the olive tree has represented life, peace, and endurance along the Mediterranean, and it continues to play an essential role in preserving both cultural heritage and the environment.
Olives are more than a local delicacy; they are a cornerstone of sustainable living. Olive trees thrive in our climate with minimal water needs, prevent soil erosion, and contribute to biodiversity. Their fruit and oil form the basis of the Mediterranean diet, long celebrated for its health benefits and connection to natural rhythms. By nurturing our own olive groves within the resort, we not only honour tradition but also promote sustainability - using resources responsibly, supporting local ecosystems, and engaging our community and guests in meaningful experiences.

A Week of Olive-Inspired Experiences
Throughout the week, guests and employees came together to learn, celebrate, and connect through a series of olive-themed events designed to highlight this timeless fruit’s importance.
Olive-Themed Dinner at Origano Restaurant
The celebrations began with a special dinner at Origano Restaurant, where guests enjoyed a Mediterranean-inspired buffet featuring local ingredients and flavours that celebrated the olive harvest season.
Resort Olive Picking
On Tuesday and Thursday, guests were invited to join our gardening team in the resort’s own olive groves for a hands-on olive-picking experience. Guests spent a morning discovering the joy of harvest -rewarded with a small gift of hand-picked olives and an exclusive recipe for salted olives, prepared by our Executive Chef.

Presentation of Local Olive Oil Products
On Wednesday, the hotel lobby hosted a presentation of local olive oil producers, offering guests the opportunity to taste and learn about the diverse profiles and artisanal production methods that define Dubrovnik’s olive oil tradition.
Employee Olive Harvest and Picnic
The event concluded with a team olive-picking day for resort employees - a mix of teambuilding, outdoor fun, and celebration. After a productive morning in the groves, the team gathered for a picnic surrounded by nature, marking another year of dedication and connection to the land.

Last year’s harvest yielded more than a ton of olives and produced around 200 litres of olive oil. With continued care and enthusiasm, this season’s harvest promises to be even better - a testament to the resort’s commitment to sustainability, tradition, and community.
At Sun Gardens Dubrovnik, every olive tree tells a story - one of balance, respect for nature, and the joy of sharing authentic experiences with our guests.
