Earth Day Through the Eyes of Little Gardeners

Earth Day, celebrated on April 22, is a gentle reminder of how much small, everyday choices matter when it comes to caring for our environment. That’s why this year, we marked the occasion in the best possible way - with little helping hands and plenty of shared learning.

Spring has been in full swing in our garden for some time now. Our gardeners have been busy with seasonal activities - preparing the soil, planting and nurturing crops that will soon bring their first harvest. Traditionally, we planted tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, eggplants, and a variety of herbs, while also enriching the garden with new additions such as mini fruit trees including apples, cherries, and sour cherries.

In this vibrant spring setting, we were especially delighted to welcome, for the first time, children and teachers from the Mokošica kindergarten. Through a simple and engaging introduction, the children learned about gardening, seasonal vegetables, herbs, and the flowers that brighten our gardens. The highlight, of course, was the hands-on experience – playing in the soil and planting their own flower seedlings to take home as a memory of the day. As a small gift, they also received flower plants to take back and brighten their kindergarten.

After their time in the garden, the children continued their visit at the Sports Centre, where they had the chance to relax, play, and enjoy a well-deserved treat.

Thank you to the children and their teachers for visiting and for the curiosity and energy they brought with them!
